I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Hudson Garrett on a variety of projects over the years, but most recently have collaborated with him regarding his knowledge of medical device safety and reprocessing. Dr. Garrett has led the way to improving the safety of flexible endoscopes in the industry at a global level and has never been afraid of stepping outside of his comfort zone. He has worked collaboratively with the CDC, FDA, ASGE, AGA, SGNA, and APIC groups to advance medical device safety. He is a passionate executive leader that bridges clinical practice, science, and patient safety. In my entire medical career, I have not ever worked with another healthcare professional that has the ethics that Hudson does. He is driven, yet compassionate. He is extremely agile and strategic and never lets anything get in the way of doing what is best for the patient. Dr. Garrett is a very diverse healthcare executive and can easily adapt to his surroundings. His passion for working across the entire healthcare continuum of care is unmatched in the industry. He focuses on personnel, processes, as well as evidence-based approaches to products in a way that makes sense for any healthcare audience. Every day he advances himself and is always mentoring others! Dr. Garrett started as a student of mine, but now is a trusted friend and colleague. I cannot think of anybody more deserving of my highest recommendation than Dr. Garrett. He is a true asset to patient safety, infection control, and medical device safety!
